    HEAT training

HEAT (Hostile Environment Awareness Training) prepares civilian personnel for travel and work in fragile or hostile environments. A credible course combines threat awareness, practical scenarios, first-aid under pressure, and decision-making drills — over three to five days.

    Who needs HEAT?

Personnel who routinely or occasionally travel into environments where the local rule of law is weak, military or paramilitary actors operate openly, or organised criminality affects civilian movement. Typical audiences include NGO programme staff, foreign correspondents, embassy operations staff, and corporate field teams.

    How long is the course?

Three to five days for a comprehensive HEAT. Shorter refresher modules (one to two days) are available for personnel who completed a full course within the prior two years.

    What is in the course?

Threat awareness, practical scenarios (checkpoint, vehicle ambush, kidnap-and-recovery), first-aid under pressure (catastrophic bleeding, airway, casualty movement), and decision-making drills under controlled stress.

    Is HEAT military training?

No. HEAT is designed to keep civilian personnel alive and capable of completing their work in environments where normal travel-programme assumptions do not hold. It is not designed to make participants combat-effective.

    Where is the course delivered?

At documented training sites with the staging and instructor depth a credible HEAT requires. We do not deliver HEAT in office settings.

    What about post-course support?

A good provider stays accessible after training — for follow-up questions, pre-trip briefings, and incident escalation. The course is the start of the relationship, not the entire product.

How do we book group training?

Group training is the standard model. We confirm participant numbers, profile, and destination context, then propose a course design and delivery window.

    Is there a certificate?

Yes. Participants receive a documented record of attendance and outcomes against the course objectives.
