    Security driver

A security driver is a Wpbr-licensed security professional trained in protective driving techniques — route reconnaissance, evasive manoeuvring, and threat recognition — who provides secure ground transport for executives, diplomats, and high-profile principals.

Does a security driver need a special licence in the Netherlands?

Yes. Security drivers performing close-protection-adjacent roles in the Netherlands require a valid Wpbr VE certificate from the Dutch National Police in addition to a standard driving licence. Providers who deploy drivers without this certificate are operating outside the statutory framework — the venue operator or client bears the legal exposure, not just the provider.

What is the difference between a security driver and a regular chauffeur?

A regular chauffeur drives efficiently and comfortably. A security driver layers a threat-aware framework on top: pre-journey route assessment, monitoring for surveillance during transit, evasive and emergency driving capability, and a direct communication line to dispatch. The difference is invisible in normal conditions and critical when it matters.

What does protective driving training include?

Threshold braking, high-speed cornering, J-turn and Y-turn evasive manoeuvres, anti-ambush and blockade-breaking techniques, surveillance detection from a vehicle, and close-protection team integration — how the driver coordinates with the CPO or team lead during a dynamic incident.

Do you conduct advance work before the journey?

Yes. A properly structured security driver engagement includes route reconnaissance before departure — identifying choke points, surveillance risks, hospital locations, and secondary route options. A driver who arrives at pick-up without having assessed the route has not provided a security service.

Can a security driver be commissioned for a single journey?

Yes. Single-journey engagements — airport transfers, specific meeting transport, event arrivals — are a standard part of the practice. Even a single journey receives a route assessment. The engagement scope is confirmed at booking.

What vehicles do security drivers use?

Vehicle selection follows the principal's profile and the security requirement. High-profile or VIP engagements typically use discrete executive saloons or SUVs — visible armour is rarely appropriate for civilian protective driving. Armoured vehicle options are available where the threat level and legal framework support it. Vehicle specification is confirmed during engagement planning.

How quickly can a security driver be deployed?

For pre-planned engagements, confirmation is within 24 hours of booking. For same-day or urgent requirements, contact our operations desk directly — our 24/7 dispatch capability allows rapid mobilisation where the route can be assessed in the available time.

Do you provide security drivers in The Hague?

Yes. The Hague is a core operating area — the concentration of embassies, international courts, and government ministries creates consistent demand for security drivers who understand both the diplomatic protocol requirements and the city's specific threat environment. We operate across Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague, Eindhoven, and cross-border routes.
